GLOWLAND Returns for a Dazzling Fusion of Art and Light

The Oakland Business Improvement District (OBID) is excited to announce the return of GLOWLAND, running from November 22 to December 14, 2024, throughout Oakland, Pittsburgh. Join us for three weeks of artistic wonder and community celebration.

Welcome to GLOWLAND, a mesmerizing world of creativity meeting at the intersection of art and light. This annual initiative presents interactive art installations, and exciting signature events. In its third consecutive year GLOWLAND will showcase innovative work from local and national artists,
host free, accessible events for everyone, partner with local businesses to celebrate Oakland's diversity, and offer engaging activities for children.

GLOWLAND’s dynamic lineup features four signature events.

✨ Neon Night: A Glow in the Dark Pickleball Showdown – October 5th, Schenley Park Pickleball Courts
Enjoy a vibrant pickleball tournament under glowing lights and set to an exhilarating soundtrack, with tournament brackets, clinics, and family and open play. The tournament starts at 6:00PM. (Ticketed) Tickets on sale here. Limited number available!

✨Glow Ball – November 22nd, The University Club
Kick off the holiday season at the illuminated University Club. Don your sparkliest attire for a fiery night of entertainment, dancing to beats by Arie Cole, themed cocktails, and savory bites. This 21+ event sets the night aglow. (Ticketed)

✨Celestial Choreography: A Dynamic Drone Show – December 7th, Schenley Plaza
Witness a breathtaking drone show, crafted by Sky Elements, featuring 250 drones lighting up the night sky. Enter the drone show competition by submitting a stellar drawing and a brief essay on what your design means to you and why Oakland/Pittsburgh holds a special place in your heart. Winning designs will come to life, showcased in the night sky, at Celestial Choreography! The event features live music, festive drinks, and activities for all ages. (Free)

✨Illuminate Your Imagination – December 14th, Schenley Plaza
Step into an enchanting world where excitement, ingenuity, and creativity abound. This family-friendly event is filled with engaging STEAM activities, a music-led Glow Parade around Schenley Plaza, a glow in the dark puppet show by Pittsburgh Puppet Works, a build-your-own smores station, activity tables from some of Pittsburgh’s favorite vendors and much more!
