Disney's Little Mermaid- A Review

By Christine LaGrosse July 10, 2013

THIS IS A MUST SEE!!  We were so excited to see Disney’s The Little Mermaidand it was even better than I anticipated.  With the opening notes of the amazing orchestra playing a beautiful medley of all of our favorites songs to the last surprise confetti drop, it was a sight for the eyes and ears!

It was so much fun to see all the little girls dressed up in their Ariel costumes anticipating the start of the show.  The minute we arrived, the stage made us feel as if we were under the sea!  The actors did a fabulous job of moving like fish and flying through the “sea” high above the stage.  With a combination of black lights, light-up costumes and even skateboards and wheelie shoes, the audience never knew what to expect from one scene to the next.

One of my favorite scenes was the “Under the Sea” number that had the perfect combination of one of the most beloved songs from the show with fabulous costumes, dance numbers and props.  Sebastian the Crab played by Alan Mingo, Jr.  has a powerful voice that carried this number all the way through to the end!

Another show-stopper was any scene with Ursula played by Liz McCartney!  She was outstanding!  Not only was her costume fabulous but her interpretation of the familiar tunes from the show literally made the audience erupt with applause for a job well done!!!

If you have a little girl who loves Disney’s The Little Mermaid or if you loved the movie as a child, you do not want to miss this show.
