This summer, Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History invite young creators, thinkers, and explorers to dive into unforgettable full-day and half-day camps that spark curiosity and fuel imagination. Campers will roam among real dinosaur fossils, experiment with a wide variety of art materials, explore ecosystems, and discover the stories behind fantastical creatures and incredible artworks. From hands-on clay workshops to science-inspired adventures, each camp blends creativity, learning, and play in immersive environments found only at Pittsburgh’s most iconic museums. Every day brings a new opportunity for campers to investigate, design, collaborate, and make meaningful connections between art, science, and the world around them.
Full-day camps for ages 6–13 and half-day camps for ages 4–5 are offered at both museums in Oakland, giving families a broad selection of themes, skill levels, and dates to choose from. Whether a child prefers sculpting, painting, inventing, hiking, or examining specimens up close, there is a camp designed to match their interests.
Powdermill Nature Reserve—Carnegie Museum of Natural History’s field research station—offers full-day camps for ages 6–13, where young nature lovers can explore forests, streams, wildlife, and outdoor ecosystems with guidance from experienced naturalists.
Teens in grades 9–12 can take their creativity to the next level through Youth Art Studio Summer Sessions at Carnegie Museum of Art. These focused studio experiences help teens strengthen artistic techniques, experiment with new mediums, and develop portfolio-ready artwork in a
supportive, skill-building environment.
Pre and post-camp care is available for Oakland campers ages 6–13 for an additional fee, making scheduling simpler for busy families and giving kids more time to enjoy supervised activities.
Give your child a summer filled with creativity, discovery, and adventure—one they’ll remember long after camp ends.
