Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s Arts Landing Kicks Off Its First Summer

More Than 70 Days of New and Recurring Events

May 19, 2026

Downtown’s newest civic space is ready to come alive this summer.

Arts Landing will debut its first season of programming, starting with its Grand Opening at the Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival, June 5-7 and 11-14. What follows is a steady schedule of recurring free programs and activities that will bring people together in Downtown’s Cultural District.

Along with finishing touches to the new civic space now underway, the summer lineup will keep Arts Landing active, welcoming, and easy to enjoy all season long. From live music and fitness classes to food trucks and movie nights, the space offers something for residents, visitors, families, and Downtown workers—all free and open to the public.

“Arts Landing was designed to bring people together,” said Kendra Whitlock Ingram, President & CEO of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. “Our summer activities will welcome residents and visitors to experience something new and return to the Cultural District often. Arts Landing helps us create the kind of Downtown where people want to be.”

Amenities & Finishing Touches

Following the NFL Draft, the construction fence at Arts Landing is down and our soft opening phase is underway. Step into Arts Landing 7 am - 10 pm daily to see Downtown Pittsburgh's new civic space. Explore the public art, discover a new view of the city, and relax on the great lawn. Arts Landing is free and open to everyone.

Now Open

The Grable Playground, Downtown’s first every playground, is now open and being actively used. Visitors will not find typical swing sets and see-saws; instead, expect play equipment with artful expressions made with natural materials. Select equipment is for ages 2-5 years and 5-12 years, respectively.

Arts Landing’s inaugural public art program is on display and open for viewing 7 am-10 pm daily. Works are woven throughout Arts Landing, inviting visitors to slow down, look closer, and discover something new with every visit. Self-guided tours are available with informative signage and QR codes to link visitors to video interviews with featured artists. Learn more at TrustArts.org/visualart.

Coming Soon

The BNY Visitor Center will open in June. Inside, visitors will find public restrooms, a water refill station, and security hub that helps ensure Arts Landing is a safe and welcoming destination for everyone. Two additional water stations are located throughout the civic space.

Furniture, lighting, and games will be added to the Giant Eagle Foundation Backyard following the Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival.

The Cultural Trust will add a concession stand and bar by July, located near the BNY Visitor Center.

The Highmark Courtyard’s artist-designed pickleball courts and exercise track will be added by late July.

Perennial plantings and other final landscaping work is underway.
