The Pittsburgh Derby Brats, the city’s only open-gender youth sports league, are making national and international headlines! The team has officially qualified for the Junior Roller Derby Association (JRDA) National Championships, happening July 12–13 in Loveland, Colorado—only the second time in over a decade the team has reached this prestigious milestone.
But the celebration doesn’t stop there. Two of the team’s All-Star skaters have also been selected to represent the United States on Team USA at the JRDA World Cup in Australia this July.
“This is a huge moment—not just for the Derby Brats, but for Pittsburgh,” said a team spokesperson. “To have our skaters competing at the highest level in the country and internationally shows what’s possible when you build a league that welcomes everyone.”
Founded on the principles of inclusivity, empowerment, and athletic excellence, the Pittsburgh Derby Brats continue to break barriers as the only open-gender youth sports league in the city. Their journey to Champs and beyond is proof that when all kids are given the space to thrive, incredible things happen.
Fans can follow the team’s journey and support their travel fundraisers as they prepare to represent Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania—and the United States—with pride.
