Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh Announces Summer Updates

Guests can see new exhibits and experience live music performances, workshops, camps, and more

Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh announces its 2025 summer slate of art and making activities, live music and family fun, as well as special summer hours.

Summer Hours at Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh
Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh will be open seven days a week from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, including every Wednesday, in June, July, and August. Admission tickets can be purchased in advance online and walk-up tickets are always available.


Summer Exhibit
For the entire summer, guests can explore the interactive art inspired by birds and animals of six habitats in I AM WILD, A Charley Harper Exhibit, open until August 31, 2025.


New MuseumLab Workshops and Timed Tickets

Starting June 7, MuseumLab will be a timed ticket experience on weekends, for kids ages 9 and up. Guests can explore in-depth hands-on workshops and visits to the three-story interactive sculpture, Gymlacium. Saturday and Sunday sessions are scheduled at 10:30 am, Noon, 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm. Maker activities and class themes will range from wet metal enameling to lino printing, and will be refreshed and rotated regularly.

Timed tickets are $5 per participant. Children’s Museum admission required. Spots are limited. Tickets will be sold in person at the Children’s Museum admissions desk. The schedule is subject to change, and all museum rules and policies apply.  

Accompanying parents/caregivers and younger siblings and guests that are not participating can explore MusuemLab at no additional cost.


Programs, Workshops, Summer Camps and more…

  • Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh will celebrate the LEGO® World Day of Play on Wednesday, June 11, as kids imagine, build and inspire a more playful Pittsburgh and brighter future using LEGO bricks. The Children’s Museum is part of LEGO Group’s Playful Learning Museum Network—hosted by the Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC) and funded by the LEGO Foundation—that brings together children’s and science museums to pioneer playful learning experiences both inside our institutions and out in the communities they serve.   • Summer camps start the week of June 16. Limited spaces are still available in camps for ages 7-13. Please visit www.pittsburghkids.org/summer-camps/ to register today.
  • Join us for free family portraits on Father’s Day, Sunday June 15, 2025.
  • The Solar Concert Series returns to Buhl Community Park and Nova Place beginning July 10 with eight free lunchtime music performances powered by the sun. The Solar Concert Series is a project of Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, Saturday Light Brigade, Zero Fossil and Faros Properties / Nova Place.
  • Don’t miss a surprise announcement in July of a new outdoor museum experience!  Follow us on social media or sign up for our email newsletter for details.
  • Members will enjoy a Member Early Open on Sunday July 20 with special activities and promotions. Summer is a great time to become a member family or gift a membership to a special family. Any paid admission can be credited back towards a membership for 24 hours after your visit.

  • Finally, mark your calendars for our annual Kindergarten Here I Come! event on Saturday, August 16! Tickets will go on sale over the summer.

Summer Discounts
The museum offers summer admission discounts through the Blue Star Museums Program for active duty and retired military, as well as the RAD Summer Staycation for Allegheny Country library card holders, as well as other opportunities for free or reduced admission. All offers are subject to change and are at the discretion of the admissions team. Please visit the website to review ongoing and upcoming discounts.


Holiday Schedule

Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh and MuseumLab will be closed to the public on the following days: Thursday, June 19, in recognition of Juneteenth, and Friday, July 4, in recognition of Independence Day. Additionally, the museum will be closed on Monday, September 1, for Labor Day, and a few days following for staff training, exhibit repairs, and deep cleaning of our spaces. The museum will close at 3:00 pm on Friday June 6, in advance of our Great Night Gala fundraiser.
