Children’s Museum of Pgh Kicks Off Summer with Exciting Programs

Live Music, Art in the Park, Summer Hours and More

Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh announces its 2024 summer activities filled with art, making, music and family fun, as well as special summer hours:


Summer Hours

MuseumLab starts its summer hours today, June 17, being open seven days a week, noon – 5:00 pm. MuseumLab is the building next door to the Children’s Museum where youth and teens can have cutting-edge experiences in art, tech and making, and is included in museum admission.

Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh and MuseumLab will be closed on Wednesday, June 19, in recognition of Juneteenth, and Thursday, July 4, in recognition of Independence Day. For a full list of programs and events happening this summer, visit https://pittsburghkids.org/events.


Summer Discounts

Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh offers several free admission days every year as well as a handful of standing discounts. On weekdays during the month of June, educators can enjoy one free adult or senior admission ticket with official credentials and matching identification. Visit pittsburghkids.org/visit/admission-discounts/ for more information on current admission discounts.

The Museum is also participating in RAD Summer Staycation, offering Allegheny County library-card holders a free family pass all summer on select weekdays alongside other cultural attractions in Pittsburgh. Visit radpass.org/ to learn more and reserve a pass.


Pride Block Party

Saturday, June 29

1:00 – 4:00 pm

This inaugural event will celebrate love and kindness in honor of Pride Month and feature custom screen printing, rock painting, collaborative mural making, face painting, open mic time, ribbon dancers and more.


Solar Concert Series

Every Thursday from July 11.to Aug 29

12:15 pm

Free outdoor lunchtime concerts, run by the power of the sun, will be offered weekly at Buhl Community Park and the nearby Nova Place patio on an alternating schedule.). The Solar Concert Series is a project of Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, Saturday Light Brigade, Zero Fossil and Nova Place


Bloom

Thursday, July 25

6:00 – 8:00 pm

This annual festival returns with a whimsical theme of Bloom: Wonderland, inspired by Lewis Carroll’s beloved story, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Activities include Double Dutch, face painting, yoga in the park, an artist competition and artist market. Tickets to Bloom are $5 and include entry to the first floor of the Children’s Museum
