⚠️ Traffic Alert: OpenStreetsPGH - Sat. May 11, 2024

Thousands of people biking, walking, running, and rolling will take to Pittsburgh’s streets this Saturday, May 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for OpenStreetsPGH presented by UPMC Health Plan. Produced by Bike Pittsburgh, this free community event opens 2 miles of car-free streets in Downtown and the South Side for people to bike, walk, roll, and play. This month’s OpenStreetsPGH is the first of three events celebrating active transportation and people-centered places in Pittsburgh.

Car traffic will be prohibited on a 2-mile stretch: From Market Square, through the Armstrong Tunnel, across the 10th St Bridge, and up E. Carson St in the South Side.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY

Streets will begin closing Saturday at 8 a.m. It is recommended to use Waze or Google Maps to help navigate road closures. The following streets will be impacted by the closures:

  • Market Square: Graeme St, Market St, and Forbes Ave 
  • Forbes Ave from Market Square to the Armstrong Tunnel
  • Armstrong Tunnel (both directions)
  • 10th St Bridge
  • S 10th St from the 10th St Bridge to East Carson St
  • E Carson St from S 10th St to S 21st St

TRAFFIC CROSSINGS: Unlike other events, OpenStreetsPGH does not require a complete street closure, but motorists are advised to expect traffic delays and allow for sufficient travel time. Drivers and motor vehicles may cross the route at the following 8 open intersections:

  • Wood St & Forbes Ave
  • Smithfield St & Forbes Ave
  • Grant St & Forbes Ave
  • Sixth Ave / Crosstown Blvd & Forbes Ave
  • 2nd Ave & 10th St Bridge
  • Bingham St & S 10th St
  • S 18th St & E Carson St
  • S 21st St & E Carson St

Roadways will reopen promptly by 3:00 p.m. 

PARKING RESTRICTIONS

There is no parking allowed along the event route from 3am-3pm on Saturday, May 11th. All parked cars will be towed. “No Parking” signs will be placed along the route starting on Wednesday, May 8th.
