Have you checked out Pittsburgh Citi Parks' new playground in Allegheny Commons Park? Deer Pit Playground has been newly renovated and we absolutely LOVED it! Of course, we have to share all the details and tips so that you and your little ones can have a fantastic time!
1. This playground is your little adventure seekers' DREAM! The main feature of this playground is the center climbing structure. The ground below is a soft foam so that even if your little one falls it will help to provide a cushion. Climbing will help your child improve their fine and gross motor skills development and gain confidence while practicing problem-solving skills.
2. Come prepared. There are two picnic tables nearby, but we suggest bringing your own chairs and/or blanket. The playground and trees provide partial shade but definitely pack the sunscreen. Since it is a wooded area we also highly suggest packing bug spray.
3. The important stuff... There is paid street parking and most times you are able to find a spot close to the park ( We have only found parking to become more difficult if there is a home Steeler game or event happening at the stadiums - make sure to check our EVENT CALENDAR to see if there is anything going on! There are Porta Johns nearby.
4. Saving the best for last ๐งก if this isn't on your bucket list yet, this Pittsburgh Icon is a must-add! Gus and Yia Yia's has some of the city's best iceballs, popcorn, and peanuts! The iceballs are hand shaved and the price is unmatched!
