Get ready for a weekend of briny excitement and mouth-watering delights as Picklesburgh, Pittsburgh's beloved pickle festival, returns in 2023 with a twist! The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership (PDP) has unveiled exciting plans for Picklesburgh 2023, promising an expanded footprint, a new location, and even more family fun. As the festival continues to grow in scale and popularity, this year's event is set to be bigger and better than ever before. So mark your calendars from July 21 to July 23, 2023, and prepare for a pickle-packed adventure on the Boulevard of the Allies.
A Relocation with a Pickle Twist
In response to the festival's ever-increasing attendance and enthusiastic pickle-loving masses, the organizers have decided to relocate Picklesburgh from the Allegheny Riverfront to the Boulevard of the Allies. The new location will stretch from Stanwix Street to Smithfield Street, offering a vibrant setting that showcases the heart of Pittsburgh. As a visual centerpiece, the iconic 35-foot Heinz pickle balloon will soar above PPG Plaza, serving as a beacon of pickle-themed joy.
Family Fun Galore
Picklesburgh has always been known for its family-friendly atmosphere, and this year is no exception. From pickle-themed food to engaging activities, there's something for everyone in the family to enjoy. Explore the festival grounds and indulge in a wide variety of pickle-infused delicacies, from traditional cucumber pickles to unique pickle-inspired treats like pickle-flavored ice cream and pickle pizza. The vendors will be ready to satisfy your pickle cravings, allowing you to sample and purchase an assortment of pickled delights.
But the fun doesn't stop at food! Kids can participate in face painting, arts and crafts, and exciting games designed to entertain and engage young pickle enthusiasts. Capture the moment with memorable family photos amidst the festival's vibrant atmosphere. And don't forget to keep an eye out for the giant pickle balloon and the inflatable version of the famous Heinz holiday pickle ornament that will adorn the Boulevard of the Allies. These iconic sights will provide perfect selfie opportunities and add an extra dash of pickle-themed charm to your Picklesburgh experience.
Xmas in July: A Festive Surprise
This year, Picklesburgh brings a unique twist to the summer season by incorporating a special Xmas in July celebration. Alongside the pickle-themed festivities, immerse yourself in holiday cheer with live music, photo ops, and a delightful pop-up bar. Groove to the sounds of live music performances sponsored by the Pittsburgh Pirates on the Xmas in July Stage, located at the Boulevard of the Allies and Smithfield Street. Capture precious memories with Santa's chair and snap selfies with the Pittsburgh Pirate Parrot donning a Santa hat and a life-size inflatable Leg Lamp from the classic holiday film, A Christmas Story.
Quench your thirst and savor the flavors of the season at the Pickled Christmas pop-up bar. Indulge in festive cocktails like the HoliJuly and the Pickled Hollyburgh, specially crafted with a pickle twist. And don't miss the opportunity to try delectable treats such as Santa's Walking Tacos and Mrs. Claus' Ham Sliders. The Pickled Christmas pop-up bar is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the unique blend of holiday spirit and pickled delights.
