Summer Musical Theater at The Richard E. Rauh Conservatory at Pittsburgh Musical Theater
Summer Musical Theater (SMT) at The Richard E. Rauh Conservatory at Pittsburgh Musical Theater is a day camp for young artists ages 4-18 interested in acting, singing, and dancing. SMT takes place June 17th - July 13th. Students train and rehearse for the first 3 weeks of camp and perform during the 4th week in a professional theater. Our summer shows will be performed at the New Hazlett Theater (located next to the Children’s Museum on the North Shore). The Richard E. Rauh Conservatory is in the city’s West End at Pittsburgh Musical Theater.
2019 summer productions are:
Broadway Juniors (ages 4-7) Heroes and Villains
Preteens (ages 8-12) Disney’s Frozen Jr.
Teens (ages 13-18) Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Teens (Ages 13-18, Class times vary based on track)
Performance Track, Monday-Friday 9am-5pm: $995
Students in the teen performance track spend their mornings attending classes in dance, acting, dynamics, and vocal performance. In the afternoon, students participate in rehearsals for Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame that will be performed during the fourth week of the program. No audition is required for acceptance into this program, however students do have to audition for class placement and casting in the shows.
Non-Performance Track, Monday-Friday 9am-12pm: $795
Students in the non-performance track attend dance, acting, and dynamics classes. This track is 3 weeks, June 17 - July 5 and students do not participate in the show during the 4th week of camp. No audition is required for acceptance into this program.
Dance Emphasis Track, Monday-Friday, time and pricing varies based on chosen option:
Teen Students wishing to enroll in dance emphasis will spend their mornings in intensive study of jazz and ballet.
Option 1 (9am-5pm, $995): In the afternoon students join the performance track and perform in Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Option 2 (9am-12pm, $795): Morning dance classes only.
Note: Dance Emphasis has a performance aspect and will present choreographed dance numbers in a professional theater during the 4th week of camp. An audition IS required for acceptance into this program.
Preteens (Ages 8-12)
Performance Track, Monday-Friday 9am - 5pm: $995
Students in the preteen performance track spend their mornings attending classes in dance, acting, dynamics and vocal performance. In the afternoon, students participate in rehearsals for Disney’s Frozen Jr. that will be performed during the fourth week of the program. No audition is required for acceptance into this program, however students do have to audition for class placement and casting in the shows.
Broadway Juniors (Ages 4-7)
Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 9am-11:30am: $350
Children ages 4-7 will study the basics of dance, acting, group voice, and performance. During the production week, students have a modified rehearsal schedule with two performances in a professional theater. No audition required for acceptance into this program.
