OpenStreetsPGH hosts final event of 2024

Homewood + East End on Saturday, July 27

Thousands of people biking, walking, running, and rolling will take to Pittsburgh’s streets on Saturday, July 27th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for OpenStreetsPGH presented by UPMC Health Plan. Produced by Bike Pittsburgh, this event opens 2.5-miles of car-free streets in Homewood and the East End. This is the third and final OpenStreetsPGH event of the year, celebrating active transportation and people-centered places in Pittsburgh with a day of free community fun.

Car traffic will be prohibited on a 2.5 stretch: From East Liberty Blvd at Liberty Green Park, Larimer Ave to Broad Street, Frankstown Ave to Homewood Ave, Thomas Blvd to Braddock Ave.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY

Streets will begin closing Saturday July 27th at 8 a.m. It is recommended to use Waze or Google Maps to help navigate road closures. The following streets will be impacted by the closures:

  • East Liberty/Larimer
    • Larimer Ave 
    • Broad Street
    • Frankstown Ave 
  • Homewood/Point Breeze
    • Frankstown Ave 
    • Homewood Ave
    • Thomas Blvd

TRAFFIC CROSSINGS
Unlike other events, OpenStreetsPGH does not require a complete street closure and provides multiple access points along the route. However, motorists are advised to expect traffic delays and allow for sufficient travel time. Drivers and motor vehicles may cross the route at the following open intersections:

  • East Liberty/Larimer Vehicle Crossings
    • E Liberty Blvd & Larimer Ave (End of route - E Liberty Blvd open to vehicle traffic all day)
    • Larimer Ave + Broad St (Target Enter/Exit Only)
    • E Liberty Ave + Broad St/Frankstown Ave
  • Homewood/Point Breeze Vehicle Crossings
    • Fifth Ave/Washington Blvd + Frankstown Ave
    • Bennett St + Homewood Ave
    • Hamilton Ave + Homewood Ave
    • N Braddock Ave + Thomas Blvd (End of route - Braddock Ave open to vehicle traffic all day)

Roadways will reopen promptly by 3:00 p.m. 

PARKING RESTRICTIONS

There is no parking permitted along the event route from 3 AM until 3 PM on Saturday, July 27th. All parked cars will be towed. “No Parking” signs will be placed along the route starting on Wednesday, July 24th.
