Build a robot! Design a computer program! Do chemistry and physics experiments! C-MITES, a Carnegie Mellon University program, hosts a variety of summer programs in June and July at locations throughout Pennsylvania.Classes are designed to educate and challenge academically talented children in first through eighth grade using fun, hands-on activities. One and two-week classes are offered in June and July. Costs range from $255 to $550, and financial aid is available.
Classes are offered at many different sites in Allegheny County, including Carnegie Mellon University, Allison Park, Oakland, Upper St. Clair and Wexford. Locations outside Allegheny County include Greensburg, Johnstown, Warren, Lewisburg, Doylestown and Blue Bell.
Classes include: Amusement Park Physics, Robotics, Solar System Astronomy, Bridge Boom, Math Time Travelers, Green Engineering, Human Anatomy 101, K’Nex Geometry, Math Olympiad, Problem Solving Using Puzzles and Games, Programming Using Alice, Science Potpourri, and Solve a Murder Mystery.
