Dinosaur Easter Eggs

By Christine LaGrosse, Macaroni Kid of Pittsburgh LLC March 26, 2013

If you have little ones that are really into dinosaurs- this is the egg trick for you!! It is also a really awesome alternative to the traditional Easter egg coloring and the best part is that you probably have all the supplies on hand!

Supplies:

Cups
Hard Boiled Eggs
Food Coloring

Step 1:Boil the eggs and once they are cool, crack them gently. (My son loved this part.)The smaller the cracks the better the end result.I started them out with a small tap on the counter and then he squeezed them gently (yeah right) in his hands to create small cracks all over.

Step 2:Put some plain water in a cup and squeeze lots of food coloring in the cup.I didn’t measure this at all but we used about ¼ of the bottle because this was a ton of fun for a 4 year old!Make sure you leave enough room in the cup for the egg so it doesn’t overflow!

Step 3: Gently place the egg in the cup and set it in the refrigerator overnight.
Step 4:Rinse off the egg in the morning and gently remove the shell and you will see a dynamic dino egg!! (Older kids might like this part but probably a bit too delicate for super tiny tots.) On some eggs, I removed the shell completely but on others, I left a little on the bottom to look like it was coming out of the egg.Awesome eggs either way!!

I was so excited to find this awesome idea here!! There are some really smart people out there!! :)
