I can't imagine it happening but when the snow hits-- the kids will find a way to make it "boring." Liven up the snow days with THIS awesome idea we found on familyfun.go.com. We tried it ourselves and here's the results. Awesomely, colorful, ICE CASTLES! Show the "Jone's" up this season with your smartie's creations. Cars will slow down to see-- and perhaps you can even begin to charge admission fees! Just kidding. No really, we were kidding.
Ice Castles
This takes a little bit of prep but it’s worth it . Fill buckets or containers with water and food coloring. Let them freeze outside overnight or in your freezer if you have room. We used our basement freezer to do this.
Use any containters your have on hand to create varying shapes and sizes. Think about castles and the large portions and smaller portions of architecture.
When the first good snowstorm hits bring these PUPPIES out for some serious play time. You'll need to let them de-thaw a bit or run some hot water around the edges until you see them start to "give" a little within their containers.
Dump them out and let the kids BUILD Ice Castles with beautifully colored ICE SHAPES!
These WILL leak color so be careful of clothing etc.
