Block Chronicles welcomes spruce & adorn ™ to fuse together an activation on Federal Street, 3:30 p.m. until game time; with the Pittsburgh Pirates of humanitarian Roberto Clemente for Major League Baseball Remembrance Night.
Curated by Dr. Jason C. Méndez and visual artist Jenifer Schweitzer(one girl's graphics) the experience expands beyond that pages of what we traditionally see or imagine. Through conscious use of our five senses, visitors are invited to walk through a bodega inspired tunnel to take pause in reflective rituals at spruce & adorn™ sponsored forestry blessing altar and Del Caimáns cauldron of cleansing; showcasing how spirit connects us across place, culture and generations.
The activation roots from Méndez's evolving archival film Guaraguao, inspired by the red-tailed hawk—a symbol of clarity and expanded perspective. Méndez explains "Roberto Clemente's legacy extends far beyond baseball-from Puerto Rico to Pittsburgh, across the world, and through generations. This activation is an opportunity to pause in honor of that legacy, reflect on the people who carry Clemente's values forward, and bring fans and community together through remembrance and reflection."
"This is an incredible collaboration for spruce & adorn™ + friends, whose platform aims to recognize unspoken good will happening in the world and reminding us of our shared connection to nature, music and one another" adds Schweitzer.
spruce & adorn™, life styled with intention™ echoes connectivity with nature, pause, and self reflection.
Jenifer's visual impact will invite you to let your guard down, embody the experience that is Guaraguao over a vast forest and homeland that brought us Roberto Clemente; experience every day nature and sensory elements arousing personal identity through the intersection of tranquility and loving thy neighbor.
