Are you so stoked about the summer adventures you shared with your lil’s? Did you share memories you want to hold onto forever? Whether you live down the street from one another or in a totally different region… let's get your lil’s excited about developing their penmanship skills!)
Recently I visited Carnegie and discovered an adorable stationery store. The kind of store that I’d lose myself in as a kid; discovering different textures of papers, packaged letterhead, clever quips on greeting cards, and all types of pens. My favorite, the fountain pen; not to be mistaken for calligraphy.
Getting my writing tools in order and a new pair of shoes would get me stoked to suit up in my school uniform for another year. The glide of fresh ink on college-lined filler paper; is still a satisfying boomerang memory. Taking me back to summers spent practicing my personal signature with my best friends at a sleepover.
Doodling with my variety of pens would become an assistive listening device. Not often appreciated by my private school teachers… I would sketch all over the corners of my note-taking books. Holding my attention and photographic memory of all the important details needed for a pop quiz.
Peruse some playful stationery stores. Seek out a reusable fountain pen; engage in modern-day morse code, cursive, and begin practicing your perfect signature. I recommend a day trip to Carnegie for a scavenger hunt for a slice of absolutely divine cake, the hopscotch path into the Carnegie Library; stay for the live music!
Don’t forget to send them back to school with a piece of typography backpack patch for that first quarter back at school! #iammyauntsmuse
