Kalahari Resorts & Conventions Invites Families

to Discover the Greatest Indoor Waterpark in the World

By Sponsored May 25, 2015
Kalahari Resorts and Conventions combines the convenience of an “all-under-one-roof” vacation with America's largest indoor / outdoor waterparks and the luxury of amenities travelers expect from the “World’s Coolest Indoor Water Parks” (Condé Nast Traveler, 2014).

Kalahari Resorts and Conventions isn’t your typical resort. Privately owned by the Nelson family, Kalahari Resorts’ authentic-African theme and décor was inspired by the family’s love of the continent’s land and culture.

In October 2014, the Nelson family took a 23-day trip to Africa visiting six countries and covering more than 24,000 miles to source items and experiences that will be directly translated into the new Pocono Mountains resort. The Nelsons go above and beyond to provide guests a “world away” family experience.

The spirit of Africa is reflected in every aspect of Kalahari – from the Rwandan coffee beans selected by the Nelsons that are brewed on-property, handcrafted artwork on the convention center walls and guest rooms, recorded music from the streets of Cape Town echoing in the resorts and native crafts for guest souvenirs. It’s all part of Kalahari’s commitment to bring guests a beyond-expectations experience.

Upon opening this summer, Kalahari Resorts and Conventions in the Pocono Mountains will feature the all-under-one-roof offerings families are looking for, including:
  • 457 guest rooms containing one-, two- and three-bedroom suites
  • Pennsylvania’s largest indoor waterpark (100,000 sq. ft.)
  • Outdoor waterpark, which includes a huge outdoor pool, a large sundeck for relaxing, indoor/outdoor whirlpools and a swim-up bar
  • 30,000 sq. ft. family entertainment center, which will feature plenty of dry activities such as mini-bowling, cutting-edge arcade games, a 5D theater, black light mini golf and more
  • Three full-service signature dining experiences
  • Spa Kalahari & Salon
  • 100,000 sq. ft. convention center
  • 6,000 sq. ft. of retail space and more
Kalahari also recently broke ground on Phase II of the project, which will expand upon the current offerings and make the Poconos the largest indoor waterpark in the country. Phase II includes: nearly doubling the number of guest rooms, adding 100,000 sq. ft. to the indoor waterpark and expanding the outdoor waterpark. Once complete, Kalahari Resorts will be home to the best indoor waterpark in the world.

The Pocono Mountains is one of the premier tourist destinations in the country. With something for everyone, it is a diverse area that attracts a wide variety of family visitors and meets the demand for the escalating trend for “all-under-one-roof” vacation destinations on the East Coast.
