Legally Blonde The Musical - REVIEW

Omigod You Guys" such a FUN show!!

May 9, 2012
had the opportunity to see Legally Blonde the Musical presented by Pittsburgh Musical Theater at the Byham yesterday. I am tickled PINK to let you know that I really enjoyed it!

Based on the 2001 film starring Reese Witherspoon, this musical follows the film very closely and makes for a great Girls Night Out. The musical is about Elle Woods, Delta Nu’s UCLA Chapter President from Malibu whose “signature color” is pink. Elle follows her snobby ex-boyfriend to Harvard Law School and, after some setbacks, triumphs when she proves to him that she can be taken "seriously."

The star of the show Elle Woods (Lara Hayhurst) was so much fun to watch. She was extremely energetic on stage and had such a beautiful voice and I enjoyed all of the beautiful, PINK outfits in her wardrobe.

One of my favorite characters in Legally Blonde the movie was Paulette, Elle's hairdresser. Her character was almost identical in the stage production. She had some of the best lines of the evening and the musical number "Bend and Snap" was most definitely a crowd favorite. The dialogue and romance between Kyle, the UPS guy, and Paulette will surely put a smile on your face.

And I can't forget to mention the musical number "Whipped into Shape." This song was choreographed with jump ropes and I was extremely impressed with their endurance during this dance number. They were singing while jumping roping and to me it looked like they never broke out into a sweat. I LOVED IT!

If you enjoyed this movie as much as I did, then I recommend this musical for you. It will be playing at the Byham next weekend (Fri-Sat-Sun.) Tickets start at only $12 and can be purchased here.
