Greatest Places To Let "Loose!"

Pittsburgh offers some of the greatest areas to let your dog "loose" in a safe and enjoyable environment.  We scoured the Burgh' for a list of some favorite, safe, off leash areas to take your furry friend.  Grab a ball, throw that leash to the wind (at least in the areas where designated) and go have some outdoor time with your pup!


WEST 

Carnegie Dog Park

This park offers a fenced in off-leash dog area, small dog area and benches.

Donaldson Community Park 
North Fayette PA

Large fenced in area in the back of the park.  Waste station and one bench.  Dogs must be leashed in all other areas. 

Green Tree Borough Dog Park * Dog Must Pass Temperament Test/ Green Tree residents ONLY.

This Green Tree resident only park has about .75 acres of fenced in area with benches and drinking fountain.  Dogs must apply & pass a temperament test  at Camp Bow Wow on Trumbull Drive.  Pit Bulls are not allowed.  


Sewickley Heights Borough Park- Off Leash Area

Fenced in off leash area.  Dogs must be kept on leash in all other areas.

Misty Pines has 25 acres of fun, dog friendly park grounds. Walking trails, a pond with a dock for swimming and dock diving, a 1/2 acre fenced in agility yard and more are all available for use. While you're at the park, please visit our retail store to stock up on food, treats, toys and other essentials. Though we do not allow aggressive dogs in our park, we do work with them to help them overcome their fears, anxieties and other aggression causing problems during consultations and behavior modification sessions. In addition to behavior modification, we offer obedience, agility, therapy, service/assistance, hunting, small breed, 'kids and family' and other dog training classes.

For many Pittsburghers, Hartwood Acres has become closely associated with the holiday seasons. Its Festival of Lights display attracts thousands of area residents looking to be dazzled by the seemingly endless succession of holiday lights. In the summertime, the park is the perfect spot for a picnic, complete with an outdoor concert and a tour through the breathtaking 1920’s era mansion. There is a designated off-leash area just behind the Amphitheater on Middle Road.

This dog park has a pool, benches, doggy play equipment like tunnels, and an indoor dog park too,; there is no separate small dog area.  All dogs must show proof of vaccination to become a member.

Riverview Park is home to the Allegheny Observatory, the Mairdale Watershed and one of the best off-leash dog parks in the city. With more than 280 acres, the park attracts animal lovers of all kinds and it’s not uncommon to find park visitors riding horses along some of the steeper stretches of trails throughout the grounds. It’s important to remember that the off-leash area of the park is located near the corner of the Allegheny Observatory parking lot.

Bernard Dog Run, an off-leash dog park for the residents and canines of Pittsburgh. The acre-long dog run is fenced in and cleared of any invasive plants to ensure the pets' safety and enjoyment.

South Fayette Township provides a designated off-leash dog area within Fairview Park. The Off-Leash Dog Run (aka Dog Run Free Zone), is where dog owners may allow their animals to exercise without a leash. Wide, mowed paths meander through the scenic park, providing dogs and their owners with an enjoyable outdoor experience. Entry to the dog park is located in a grassy area near the parking lot and playground. A sign indicates, "Free Run Zone Starts Here."  You must APPLY to use this area.
