Coutdown To Thanksgiving, Thankful Jar, Centerpieces & More

Thankful Jar

We loved this unique take on the Thankful Jar!  Instead of just writing what everyone is thankful for, this fabulous idea adds a twist!  Each day, you choose a card and on the card is written what your family is thankful for AND how you can show your thankfulness or appreciation for that day.  For instance, one card might read,” We are thankful for our ears!  Close, your eyes, lay down and listen to some of your favorite music!”  Click here to see our inspiration and for some ideas to help get you started.  Some of them we used exactly and some served as inspiration for ones which better fit our family.

Lovely Links

What a fun family tradition to start!  These lovely links are so simple that even the smallest kids can participate.  Instead of counting down to a special occasion, these are used to count our blessings!  Each night at dinner we come up with something that we’re thankful for as a family and add it to our link.  It’s truly a stunning visual reminder of all we have to be thankful for!  I think we might try to see if we can come up with enough to encircle the entire kitchen!    Click here to see our inspiration.

Roll Basket

It just doesn’t get any cuter than this for a roll basket on Thanksgiving!  With nothing but some construction paper, clothes pins, paper plates and 1 paper bag, you can transform a neglected side dish into the main attraction!!  We used each feather to write our guests name and left a spot to fill in what they’re thankful for.  Over dinner, as we pass the rolls, it will be a wonderful conversation starter and lovely way to remember the evening!

Turkey Treat

What a cute classroom treat for Thanksgiving!  I think I might even make a few for neighbors and teachers to tell them we are thankful for them!  We used peanut candies for our turkey but M and M’s would work just as well.  If you look quickly before ALL the Christmas candy is out, you might even be able to find the special M and M’s that they made in fall colors!  My daughter loved helping me with this project and it’s one that she can even do mostly on her own even at 6.

Our inspiration for this craft was found

This would even be a fabulous place card especially if you have lots of kids coming for Thanksgiving dinner!  All you would have to do is add a small name tag around the turkey’s neck!
