Winter Wellness War

Coughing, Wheezing, Yucky Nose? Ways To Arm Yourself!

By Holly Maust, Independent Wellness Advocate for doTERRA November 19, 2015

Is it just me or has the coughing, wheezing, yucky nose season SLAMMED right into us the past couple of weeks? The flu and cold season is here! How I arm myself  (it’s a wellness war) as a mom is through doTERRA essential oils.  I’m not saying these oils are going to cure a flu or a cold but what I can tell you is they will help your family stay healthy.  I’ve seen this first hand with my daughter and I – a continual use of the oils prevents us from even getting anything.

How do we use this army of oils?  Well it just depends on which oil it is and what we’re trying to achieve.  We either diffuse (think of a small humidifier then add oils to it), ingest (trust me it will be ok) or topically (on our feet normally).

To help you win the battle of the flu and cold season, here are a handful of oils I would suggest you get in your medicine cabinet ASAP.

  1. doTERRA On Guard® has been published in the US National Library of Medicine about it’s effectiveness in supporting a healthy immune function and it’s ability to lessen influence infectivity.  Germs don’t stand a chance when you use this oil.  doTERRA has a whole line of On Guard® products but for my family we have the oil and beadlets in our defensive line.

  1. doTERRA Breathe blend is our respiratory support soldier.  We use this topically on our chest and neck to clear out our sinuses or I’ll even put the diffuser next to our beds to help us sleep better if there’s a little congestion.  This blend has eucalyptus, melaleuca, lemon and other oils to help us breathe better.  I’ll say this, I know that VapoRub has some of those ingredients but they also have turpentine oil (yuck) in there too. Which one would you rather use on your kids?

  1. doTERRA Lemon is one of my favorite all-time oils.  Lemon is a powerful cleansing agent that purifies the air and surfaces.  I pretty much have this diffusing every day in my house.  We also put it in our water because it supports healthy respiratory function too!

  1. doTERRA Oregano. I know you’re reading this right now and saying, “Holly, I use that in my spaghetti. Get out of here.” Did you know the chemical components of oregano are carvacol and thymol, both in the phenols group, which possess cleansing and antioxidant properties*. WHOA.  See, I know what I’m talking about here.  I take it orally in a gel cap on a daily basis to help maintain a healthy immune function. *

There’s so much more you can do with these oils during the winter time with shower soothers, lotion bars, scrubs, inhalers, the list can go on and on. I do classes to help make this less overwhelming to people and arm them with the tools that they need when it comes to essential oils and wellness for their families.

Don’t wait until one of your family members is hit with the flu or a cold to update your medicine cabinet this year.  BE PREPARED! Contact me today so I can help you beat the wellness war.  Stay healthy friends!
