The Goddard School in Downtown Pittsburgh

Offering Convenient, High-Quality Childcare SPONSORED

August 18, 2015

Matt and Dina Speranza, on-site owners of The Goddard School® located in Pittsburgh (Downtown), PA as well as Schools in Cranberry Township and Moon Township, heard from many parents who found it challenging to drop off their children in the suburbs and then head to work downtown. It was this feedback that caused them to open the downtown location.

“We wanted to make it more convenient for parents to find quality childcare near where they work,” says Matt. The 13,000-square-foot School includes 10 classrooms, an 1,800-square-foot indoor play area and free, indoor parking for pick-up and drop-off.

The Speranzas work to make sure every family enjoys a warm, positive experience. “We strive to provide the best quality program for each child,” says Matt. “Each of our classrooms is staffed by teachers who hold four-year degrees in childcare-related fields.”

The faculty utilizes technology such as interactive whiteboards, iPads® and touch-screen computers as appropriate to foster learning so that children engage with each other and the teachers. “We see technology and interactive media as tools in the learning process to support active, hands-on development,” says Dina.

The School also uses its F.L.EX.® Learning Program (Fun Learning Experience) to help build each child’s emotional, academic, social, creative and physical skills – including 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking (4Cs) - to provide a well-rounded experience and ensure each one becomes confident, joyful and fully prepared in school and in life. It is used to introduce STEAM learning (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) as well.

“Supporting STEAM learning at the preschool level involves identifying activities children naturally do for opportunities to further guide them,” says Dina. “At The Goddard School, when children solve puzzles or play with blocks, they essentially create pathways in their brains that help with STEAM learning later on.”
